Welcome to Deer Paradise

Togo Island

Togo Land Company, LLC (commonly referred to as Togo Island) has long been called a “deer paradise,” but it is really a utopia for outdoorsmen. The area’s rich, storied history on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River goes back more than 50 years.

Just upstream of the convergence of the Mississippi and Big Black Rivers, our 7,202.7 contiguous acres are considered by all who visit to be an ultimate experience in recreational enjoyment. The focus is on trophy deer hunting (some have likened Togo Island to a deer factory), but the duck, turkey, small game hunting and fishing are top notch as well.

The deer habitat is second to none, due in part to an abundance of mast crop as well as dewberry, which is extremely high in protein and considered by most biologists to be the favored browse of the whitetail deer. In addition to planted winter food plots, plans are to develop a summer grazing program of soybeans, corn, vetch and other high-protein food sources.

Location

Togo Island is a peninsula – rather than a proper island – tucked into a bend in the Mississippi River, which produces the favorable conditions that allow wildlife to flourish there.

Located in Claiborne County, Mississippi, and Tensas Parish, Louisiana, Togo Island has 9.8 miles of Mississippi River frontage and 2.7 miles of Big Black River frontage. Togo Island is just 30 minutes south of Vicksburg and 9 miles west of U.S. Highway 61. The all-weather access road from Highway 61 is maintained on a regular basis year-round.
